The Sharks - Inside Track

THE NUMBERS GAME

O    Nul points contre les irlandois de londresDean Schofield

1     First try for Kris Ormsby at Bath before he hobbled off.

3    Points scored at Gloucester. Same as at Saints last year. Both lows.

4      Ben Cohen is top tryscorer after the Quins home GP game on four.  James Gaskell & Sisa Koyamaibole are on three, Rob O'Donnell and David Seymour have two - all forwards, apart from our Ben.

It's nine seasons since Mark Cueto, Chris Jones and Dean Schofield (top right) made their debuts for the club. Cueto previously played for Kersal and Schofield for Aldwinians.  All three have played for England.

10     Charlie Hodgson is in his tenth season.  He made his debut at Auch in a bruising European Challenge encounter, and he is now the GP record points scorer.

19   James Gaskell's age at the start of the 2009-10 season, when the Sandbach youngster made a dramatic impact, mainly at flanker.  He'd played lock for most of his rugby life, being one of England Under-20's stars in the IRB Junior World Cup in Japan the previous Summer.Neil Briggs

20   After getting used to this being the replacement scrum half's number, it's now usually a back row forward, as with Neil Briggs (right) who placed Mahonri Schwalger at Toulouse.  20 for 2.....

23     Top flight Rugby Union is now a 23-strong squad game.  Three of the eight replacements have to be able to play in the front row.  23 is also the personal points total for Charlie against Gloucester out of 28.

24    Mascot Sharky's new number!

29   Sharks' top score so far this season, away at Quins in the Heineken Cup.

31    The number of games that Mark Cueto (below, right) has played for England, at the start of the 2009-10 season.  For some reason, he was ignored whilst Clive Woodward was in charge. Mathew Tait's also got 31 caps.

32   England caps for Andrew Sheridan so far. Sadly, after his injury against Cardiff and Mark Cuetosubsequent shoulder operations, that total's on hold until 2010 at the earliest.

38    The number of players who've appeared, up to the start of 2010.  Dave Doherty was the latest, at Leicester.

43   Dafydd James was the Sharks' 43rd player used. Ian Kench and Alex Cheeseman were numbers 41 and 42, at Bath.

56   London Irish's score at Leeds Carnegie, who scored seven themselves.

93    The number of points that the Sharks scored without reply in Dean Schofield's debut game against RDS Roma in the Parker Pen Shield in 2001.

100  The game against London Irish on 2nd October 2009 was the Sharks' 100th game at Edgeley Park.  The first - in 2003 - was a 37-all draw against Northampton Saints with 8015 in the crowd. Rugby League was played at the ground until 1902.

2005  Last time that Andrew Sheridan scored for the club - on February 18th, home to Leeds Tykes, as they were then known.
